” WHAT BEAUTIFUL MUSIC !! I loved every minute of it….so peaceful and restful. You have done a great service to people who need serenity in their lives. It just causes the stress to melt away. Thank you for this lovely effort. I hope you get the recognition you deserve from it.”
“Thank you for sending me your new CD. I can’t believe it has been
30 years since you were my piano student. What an accomplishment this
album is. I found the pieces very meditative and reflective. The
pieces on the album all tie together nicely and their melodies all
convey a sense of serenity and peace.”
“A copy of your CD found its way to me. I have listened to your music
several times already. This morning, as I drove to work alone with
your tranquil melodies – letting it take me places – letting the notes
seep in, I felt tranquil. Your music is beautiful. “
“…please don’t ask me to pick a ‘favorite’…the entire CD is like a big bowl of ice cream(my favorite food) with 13 different, wonderfully delectable flavors!!!!! Yumm for the heart and soul…. I toook a 3 hour road trip Friday afternnoon and listened to it the entire time….Bless you, for sharing your ‘gift’…….”
“I was so moved by your CD. I am a massage therapist and I played it while I was giving a massage and was overwhelmed by how moving and inspiring the melodies were to me. The music became a partnership with me as I worked with my client during their massage session. I listen to relaxing music all the time during my sessions with my clients, but I have never been so moved and impacted personally by music as I was by the music on your CD. The pieces truly took me to a place of “tranquility and peace”. Thank you for sharing the music that you have created.”
“I just finished listening to your CD for the first time. I envision your CD being played at a wedding, or background music in a restaurant. The piece entitled Echoes suprised me with the solo cello introduction played setting a reflective tone to the piece. I could see this piece as part of a movie score as it seems to lead the listener on a journey of some sort. You are a lady of awesome talent. You did a magnificent job in composing and playing these pieces.”
“I just listened to your CD and it brought tears to my eyes. The pieces are so moving and inspiring.”
“I have a crazy imagination — I am very moved by certain types of music (especially yours) and I see vivid pictures in my head sometimes when I let my mind go. My dreams are often like movies — sometimes I don’t ever want to wake up. Your music has the ability to put me into a “dream-like state,” where I feel many of the same powerful emotions I do in my dreams. Only music that reaches deep down into the core of a person and touches their psyche can do that — and your music does. Thank you for sharing your God given talents with the world for us to enjoy. I can’t wait to hear more music from you!”
Listeners Comments
Music is enriching in that it can express a multitude of ideas to its listeners based on their own interpretations. Each mixture of melody, harmony and rhythm can elicit a wide range of feelings depending on the unique sensitivities and experiences of the listener.
I have been pleasantly surprised to receive listener’s comments on specific pieces from my album. I’d like to share some ot them with you.
Please feel free to send me your thoughts and observations about certain pieces on the album, as it is enjoyable for me to read how others interpret the music that I have composed.
Tranquility
“A love song — remembering someone you love, exchanging wedding vows,
pledging your love to someone very dear. The hint of oboe adds the
right touch of seriousness. Reverence. The peaceful, soothing violin
adds a touch of sweetness and steadiness.”
Dreamland
“Haunting, mysterious tone. Feeling afraid of something, running down
a spiral staircase, rushing, searching for something. Reflections in
the water. A secret. Drifting off into dreamland …”
Bittersweet
“Remembering something or someone fondly. Happy memories mixed with
some sadness. Coming home after being gone for a long time. Looking at
old photographs. Missing someone very close to you.”
Echoes
“The melancholy violin sounds like it’s crying. Has a Celtic feel to
it. Brings to mind barren, burnt fields that used to be green, mist or
fog rolling over once emerald hills — something tragic happened in this
once beautiful land — it’s desolate and isolated now. The mournful
cello sounds like desperation. Someone must make a difficult
decision. Taking a long, arduous journey. The fluttery parts of the
piano going up and down the scale are like flashbacks to a happier
time, but the sad, serious violin says it’s time to leave this barren,
“Echoes surprised me with its intoduction not played with the piano. It sounded rather sad and reflective.”
“I can see the piece Echoes as background music in a movie where the
forlorn heartbroken girl is missing her beloved as she plays the piano.
She gets lost in the memories and dreams of what could have been. And
the pauses are like, well the first one is like her catching herself so
lost in thought.the second one is like her choking back emotion.the
ending is like either where she just can’t go on playing,
remembering.or where he walks in the room, coming back to her. very
Jane Austin or something! I love this song.”
Lavender Fields
“Nature, spring, new life, ocean waves swelling up and down, wind
blowing across expansive fields, tall grass and lavender flowers waving
in the wind. At the end, a butterfly slowly comes out of her coccoon
and flutters off into the wind. She flies across the lavender fields,
celebrating her new life and God’s creation around her.”
Hope for Spring
“Trying to overcome obstacles. Struggling, but hopeful. A once
dormant spring bulb slowly pushes it’s way up through the cold, hard
ground, reaches toward the sunlight, grows tall and begins to flourish
into a beautiful, colorful flower.”
Nina’s Song
“Reflecting on someone very dear, delicate, loved and treasured.
Feeling sad that you have to say good-bye to someone you love. You will
miss them and remember them in your heart forever. Thinking back on
the good times you had with a special friend.”
Reflections
“Thinking back with regret; looking back with sadness. The sad oboe
sounds like a tragedy happened. The flute flutters playfully as if a
happier memory emerged, but the sad oboe is serious and mournful again.”
“Reflections sounded rather serious and sad. The other instruments were a nice addition. It could be a part of a movie score for a sad movie.”
Snowfall in Vermont
“A cold, crisp winter morning, looking out the window. Crystal white
sheets of ice glimmer in the morning sunlight. There is a frozen
lake. Snow is floating down from the sky — I think of the delicate,
intricate lace patterns of a snowflake — each one unique. I envision a
ballerina or a figure skater gracefully making figure eights on the
frozen lake. She is contemplating, waiting. Twirling, skating. The
part where the piano harmonizes with itself is like two people skating
in unison together.”
Summer Light
“Light and playful, sunshine on a peaceful lake, a sailboat gliding over calm waters.”
“It sounds very romantic. It could be played in many places–at a wedding, romantic movie score, or at a nice restaurant.”
The Search
“Going on a long journey, not sure where you are going, but seeking
something meaningful and purposeful in life. The notes going up and
down the keyboard are like a weary traveler on her horse, meandering up
and down, over peaks and valleys, wandering across distant hills in a
vast, unknown wilderness.”
Winding Brook
“Nature, tranquility — sunlight shining down through the trees. I can
picture a babbling brook winding through a peaceful forest. I imagine
resting by the water and drifting off to sleep. “
Molly’s Melody
“A lazy, summer day. A small, friendly, country town. A playful dog
is bumbling along — his ears flop up and down when he trots. The
guitar adds a country, down-home feel. I imagine the townspeople
talking together and having a picnic as children play with the dog in
the sunshine. The dog runs off with a piece of watermelon when
nobody’s looking.”
“Molly’s Melody seemed somewhat different from the other songs. It seems like the kind of song that would be good to hear while at a relaxing social event. It is rather upbeat. With some words to go with it, it might be a good song to sing along with.”
